Dark matter's limited force interactions make its detection difficult

Despite making up the vast majority of matter in the universe, dark matter can only be directed indirectly via its influence on other objects through gravity, the weakest of the fundamental forces. This means direct detection of dark matter may only be possible with future, more sensitive instruments.
