  1. Despite being an endangered species due to their small populations, sea otters have a disproportionately large impact on ecosystems by keeping urchin populations in check, benefiting hundreds of other species.

  2. Kelp forests are underwater ecosystems made from fast-growing brown algae that can span over 30 meters (100 feet) and have existed on coastlines for over 30 million years.
