Additional insights we found via Investopedia

  1. A company can be asked to delist from a stock exchange by the exchange itself, leading to an eventual change in listing.

  2. In some cases, like when Shopify moved from the NYSE to the Nasdaq in 2025, the switch is made partly because the company wants to be seen as more or less of a tech company.

  3. In other instances, companies may opt to switch to what is perceived as a more prestigious exchange in order to broaden their pool of investors.
