Additional insights we found via National Solar Observatory

  1. Many of the images are captured at different non-visible wavelengths, such as UV, and then colorized into the visible range to illuminate the sun's magnetic field and magnetism-driven solar activity.

  2. Close-up imaging also reveals solar granules—Texas-sized cells of material that bubble to the surface from the convection zone.
