Through coral IVF, researchers have collected coral eggs and sperm from healthy reefs, grown baby corals in lab pools, and then released them to help repopulate damaged or lost reefs.

  1. Other restoration methods include Coralclip®, a device that helps attach these corals to existing structures, promoting growth without the use of chemical bonding agents.

  2. Corals near extinction can also be frozen using liquid nitrogen for future restoration efforts.
