Why Thomas—an early alleged witness—was not a doubter, but an empiricist
Apologist Sean McDowell argues the label "Doubting Thomas" (a common name for the gospel figure who initially did not believe in Jesus' resurrection) is a mistranslation of his character. The Greek word for doubt means wavering, but Thomas didn't waver; he flatly refused to believe until he could physically touch the wounds.
